The USS Forrestal Memorial Organization was formed in 2008, a Texas 501(C)(3) non profit corporation. Original goals of the Forrestal Memorial are to build a memorial dedicated to the 134 men who lost their lives in the fire onboard the carrier USS Forrestal on July 29, 1967. This memorial will be located in Longview, Texas. Most of our board members are Forrestal Veterans and Veterans who have served in the Navy on various aircraft carriers. We are a small group of dedicated members who realize what it means to be free and how sacred our freedom truly is.
